Diabetes Support Group: Going Gluten Free

wheatNow a day’s almost every grocery store you go into there is a section that is “gluten free”, but what does it mean? Gluten is a protein that is found in certain grains, including wheat, barley and rye. Many people tend to think of gluten as a glue-like substance that gives wheat and other products their chewy structure.

On Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. the Diabetes Support Program will hold a presentation on Going Gluten Free presented by Judy Schmitt, RD, LD, CDE. She will be answering such questions as “Who needs it, what is its relationship with Diabetes, what is Celiac Disease and what are the symptoms” and many others.

The Support Program will be held in the “Great Room” at the Hyland Education & Training Center 10020 Kennerly Road. Please register by calling 314-ANTHONY (268-4669) or visit www.stanthonysmedicalcenter.com/diabetes. All are welcomed and meetings are free so we hope to see you there!
